The Vision Series Part I: Going After the Vision

I am a firm believer in the supernatural things of God. While I don’t mean to be spooky or scare readers, I believe that there are some visions and dreams that come from God Himself by way of the Holy Spirit. I believe that God also speaks to His children by speaking to our hearts.

I said all that to say, if God has spoken to your heart or given you a dream or vision, it is your responsibility to foster it and go after that thing. It will not be easy and you will, seemingly, have opposition from every side. The enemy will do anything to make you doubt what God has promised, get you off focus, cower in fear, and to kill your dreams. Don’t let that discourage, because God is by your side.

You ask, “How do I know if this is really what God has for me?” Anything God says will and must line up with His Word. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and He will direct your paths.”

Anything that does not line up with the Word of God is a counterfeit from the enemy (John 1:1-5, 2 Timothy 3:16). So if you had a dream and you were marrying someone else’s husband, then surely that does not line up with the bible. God is not going to give you a man that He has given someone else. STOP IT! Please use scripture in the correct context. People misquote only God can judge me, but neglect all the other scriptures that says you should turn away from sin if you love God {THAT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT MESSAGE FOR ANOTHER DAY}.

Once you have determined what ever you’ve been given is a God-thing (idea, vision, purpose, calling, decision, etc.), then write it down and believe it in your heart. “Then the LORD said to me, ‘Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others” (Habakkuk 2:2, NLT). There will be days that you will have to go back and look at that thing just to keep the hope alive.

After writing it and keeping it before you, it is a daily process of seeking God’s face and taking the necessary God-steps towards that thing. It is a process. Most likely, it won’t all happen over night. It will hurt at times, but know that God is only preparing you for where He is taking you. It is bigger than you so don’t give up!
